I'm playing!

So, I decided to join in on Courtney's blog game.
I'm usually pretty lame when it comes to following through on stuff like this but I am sitting here with a sleeping baby, a little extra time and actually quite a few new things to talk about.
Here goes...
5 new favorite things
1. We have a vegetable garden!  This is something Nick and I have wanted to do for awhile but just didn't have the space or the time.  This year--with all our free time--we actually did it.  I say we but I think you, Reader, know that I mean Nick.  We started over 100 plants from seed and as much as we loved and cared for them, only about 10 of them made it.  I think we got a little sidetracked with our other projects (growing the baby.)  So, we planted our 10 seedlings, bought a whole bunch of other plants, a sprinkler and a scary bobble-head owl with glowing eyes.  We are on our way.  I'll let you know how it goes.
We call him Jacob and he's the reason I'm scared to go in the backyard at night.
2.  Our soon-to-be larger porch.  Yet another project that I can't believe there is time for is our back porch.  Nick started this weekend and it is coming right along.  I am so excited about this because the grill takes up almost the entire porch right now.  This will make it more than twice as big and it will have benches and planters on it too.  I have big plans for hanging out on this back porch once it is done.  Feel free to come join me.

3.  My MacBook.  I love it.

4.  Minute Maid Pomegranate Blueberry Juice.  SO good.
5. Surely you knew she would have to make the list...
This might be cheating but I feel like I need to include at least some of Julia's favorite things.  These are the guys she talks to every morning for about 10 minutes until she's ready for another nap.  She thinks they are so cool.

1 month old!!!

It's hard to believe it's been a month!  This little one is growing and changing so much.  At our doctor's appointment yesterday we learned that she is right on track.  She weighs 8 pounds and 13 ounces!  She is getting so big.  (But still a whole pound less than I was when I came into this world.  My poor mom.)  Another important (and wonderful) change is that she has been sleeping a little longer at night.  Tuesday she slept almost 6 hours in a row!  That may not sound like a lot but believe me it is.  It's the most consecutive hours I've slept since she was born.  I am hoping she keeps it up.

She is also becoming more and more interested in people and things around her.  She has started cooing and "talking" too--but you have to catch her in just the right mood.  I finally got a video where you can hear her little voice.  It took awhile but I finally got it to upload.  So check it out.

Some other exciting happenings around here have included a visit from Aunt Jami and (soon-to-be) Uncle Andy last weekend.  They were in town for a wedding and stayed with us.  It was so nice to have them help out with Julia while Nick was at work so I could have some free time.  She loved hanging out with them and I think they enjoyed it too.

Julia also had her very first real photo shoot with Sunday.  We had such a great time and Sunday took such beautiful pictures of our sweet little girl!  Here are a few.  Check out Sunday's photo blog to see more.

3 weeks old

Okay, so it's been a little harder to find time to update than I thought it would be.  I love being at home with this little girl but she sure keeps me busy!  Here are some pictures of her...alot of pictures.  I think I might have gone a little overboard with them.  Hope you don't mind.

We get sleep whenever we can these days.

Julia is starting to be more aware of things and people around her.  We spend alot of time staring at each other these days.  She also likes her play gym and bouncy chair.
This is the apple tree that Nick and Julia got me for my first Mother's Day.  It is now planted in the back yard and already has fruit on it.  I can't wait to have apples this fall!

Stephi, Camille and my parents came in town last week and I was able to meet my little niece for the first time.  She is such a sweet and funny little girl.  She's 3 months old and it's amazing to already see her cute little personality emerging.  I fell in love with her and can't wait to see her again in July!

Look at Camille's smile!  She does that all the time.
Aunt Stephi loves her new little niece too.

Brooklyn, not Burger King.  I asked.

We miss you, Aunt Stephi and Camille!
